The UK is storing the largest stockpile of plutonium in the world and implementing a solution for its re-use is an important strategic decision for the UK.  GE Hitachi's PRISM, which is a sodium cooled fast reactor, has been declared a credible option and is being assessed alongside other options.

In his talk David Powell will describe the approach put forward by GE Hitachi and provide a perspective of what's required to implement a successful programme using PRISM.
