‘Members of the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) project team will talk about the £2.5bn development followed by taking questions from the audience.  Subject to a positive Final Investment Decision, the BOWL project will be one of Scotland’s largest ever private investment infrastructure projects, consisting of 84 7MW Siemens wind turbines (588MW in total) located around 13.5km from the Caithness shore at its nearest point.  Once construction is complete, it is expected that Beatrice will be managed and maintained from a new Operations and Maintenance base at Wick Harbour whilst the power generated will be taken ashore via subsea cables to a point near Portgordon.  From there, underground cables will take the power to a new substation near Keith from where it will be transmitted and distributed on the National Grid. 

The project is expected to deliver significant local, regional and national benefits during the construction and operational phases.’
