    The Waverley is an iconic treasure for Scotland, the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world. She must sail again next year - particularly because 2020 is Scotland's year of Coasts and Waters. This presentation will cover the history of the Waverley and it engineering challenges. A well-loved steamer needs a major restoration. Over £400K of new funds is needed for this National Treasure to set sail in 2020.

    More than a decade of research and development in marine energy has failed to result in a technology upon which we can base a marine renewables industry. Floating tidal is the idea that will make marine energy a global industry. Scotrenewables floating tidal prototype has generated 3GWh in a year, the most by any single tidal device in the world, and the company has a plan for the next generation of floating tidal turbines which will bring tidal energy costs in line with those of offshore wind.
