Speakers

Dr Hina Khan

Space Sector Leader

Dr Hina Khan is a prominent leader in the space sector, known for her extensive contributions to space science and technology. She previously served as the Executive Director at Space Scotland, a not-for-profit company formed through an industry-led group seeking to develop the space sector in Scotland. In her role as Executive Director, Hina championed the unique end-to-end capabilities of space in Scotland, engaging directly with UK and Scottish governments to enable sector growth and leveraging opportunities within the Scottish Space Ecosystem.

Hina holds a PhD in Space Science from the University of Leicester and has an extensive background in the field. She spent a decade in research focused on space science data analytics with esteemed organizations such as NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and University College London (UCL). Transitioning to knowledge exchange and business development, she successfully integrated non-space sectors with space and satellite applications, driving growth in data science, analytics, and space technology applications.

After returning to Scotland 15 years ago, Hina progressed into leadership roles, initially as the Innovation Lead at the Scottish Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications. She then joined Spire as the program lead for a large portfolio delivering world-leading satellite technology development. At Spire UK, she also led stakeholder engagement activities, regularly deputizing for senior management at key events with government and industry officials in the space sector.

Hina is a Board Director for the Scottish Chamber of Commerce and served as a judge for the Scottish Edge Awards 2024.
