Or do you simply have a keen interest in a piece of engineering or technology that you'd love to share?
Then you could be competing in the Scottish Final of the IMechE 'Speak Out for Engineering' Young Members Lecture Competition on Wednesday 15th May - read on for more info!
*** Deadline for presentation nominations is the 8th of May at 13:00 ***
What is Speak Out for Engineering?
A presentation competition where you can demonstrate and develop your verbal and visual presentation skills as well as your competence in public speaking.
Any topic related to engineering is suitable for this competition. You do not need to provide overly technical content; the competition is about how you communicate.
Competitors must deliver a 20-minute verbal presentation (which can include the use of slides/visual aids), followed by 10 minutes Q&A with a panel of judges.
90% of the total marks are given for presentation, with only 10% for technical content.
SofE provides the perfect opportunity to flex your skills and pick up tips to develop them - all with the added bonus of some prize money if you impress the judges!
1st prize: £300 + certificate + place in the UK National Final
2nd prize: £200 + certificate
Plus, a chance to win up to £1500 if you win the subsequent UK National and Global finals!
The winners of each Regional Final go on to compete in the National UK Final later in the year, which is then followed by the Global Final at One Birdcage Walk IMechE HQ in London.
