This Event has been jointly organised by IMechE, the European Sealing Association and the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG). This is hosted by Process Industries Division and promoted across the Centres in the North West and Yorkshire Regions and, the Aberdeen Area, all part of the Process Industries Community.

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) present unique challenges and considerations for the process industry due to their widespread use in various industrial applications. PFAS are a class of synthetic chemicals known for their water and grease-resistant properties, making them prevalent in products such as firefighting foams, surface coatings, and manufacturing processes.

This session is designed to provide invaluable insights into the challenges and considerations associated with PFAS in the context of industrial processes. Permeating a wide range of industrial applications, PFAS demand a nuanced understanding of their sources, environmental implications, and potential impacts on both human health and operational practices.

Join us as we delve into the latest research, regulatory landscape, and effective strategies for managing and mitigating PFAS in the process industry. This webinar serves as a unique platform for professionals in the field to gain a comprehensive understanding of PFAS.

In addition to the general discussion on PFAS, Christian Geubert from Angst+Pfister and European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) will explain the situation relating to the Water, Food, Drink and Pharmaceutical industries. By using case studies, they will highlight specific issues and the difficulties in finding non-PFAS seal replacements for use with more aggressive ingredients. Highly flavoured food and drinks and chemically diverse pharmaceutical mixtures are particular challenges for seal manufacturers. The speakers and panel will take your quest
ions from the chat and answer them at the end of the session.
