Description

Peterhead Power Station is a flexible gas-fired plant which first became operational in 1982. In the 2000s, the plant underwent a major repowering project to convert it into an efficient CCGT power station. Today, Peterhead is the largest power station of its kind in Scotland. SSE are currently exploring development of a decarbonised power station at Peterhead, using CCS or hydrogen solutions, to ensure the site can continue to provide essential flexible generation in a net-zero world. With an electrical output of 910MW, the proposed Peterhead Carbon Capture Power Station would offset an average of 1.5MT of CO2 – at least 5% of the UK Government’s 2030 target.
Join us for a rare opportunity to tour the existing Power Station, the site of the proposed development and a presentation on the future plans for CCS by one of the team.
