This Event has been organised by the “Good Practices in Process Safety” Working Group of the Process Industries Division of IMechE, which also includes colleagues from the EI, IChemE and other interested parties.

It is hosted by the Process Industries Division and promoted across the Process Industries Community.

which includes the Centres in the North West and Yorkshire Regions, the Aberdeen Area, the North East area.

It is also being promoted separately by the Energy Institute.

The first edition of the EI PSM (Process Safety Management) Framework was published in 2010.  It is amongst the most commonly downloaded and referenced of the EI Technical publications.  The second edition of the Framework, published in 2022, builds on the first edition by providing greater detail about how the framework can be sold into major hazards organisations and how it can be successfully implemented.   The publication of the revised EI PSM framework has also prompted EI to jointly work with Stephen Bater (the author of the second edition) in the development of a web-based application, aimed at major hazards organisations, to assist in the monitoring and self-assessment of process safety performance.

In this webinar, Lee Allford (EI Technical Advisor) will join Stephen Bater in providing a background to the development of the EI PSM framework, how it can be used in practice, and some tools to support its implementation.

Michael Derbyshire (Corporate SHEQ Manager, Prax Group) and Richard Hellebrand (Process Safety Superintendent, Westlake Group) will then share some experiences, having used the Framework in their own organisations.

  • Introduction of speaker by chair (5 mins).
  • Energy Institute Process Safety Management Framework (40 mins).
  • Q and A session (15 mins) - The speaker and panel will take your questions from the chat and answer them at the end of the session.
