The Scottish Government has identified hydrogen production as a key pillar of its sustainable energy strategy, with ambitious targets of achieving 5 GW of installed hydrogen production capacity by 2030 and 25 GW by 2045

Since its launch in 2021, Scottish based PlusZero has emerged as an early leader in deploying hydrogen-based technologies to support customers decarbonise portable power and transport.  The company is set to further this mission with the commissioning of its first green hydrogen production plant in summer 2025

In this lecture, PlusZero’s Managing Director will reflect on this experience and consider how realistic the Government targets are and the role that hydrogen could play in decarbonising our energy systems.
