Join us for an engaging talk on the exciting restoration plans for Garlogie’s historic industrial site, presented by Leofric Studd, founder of the Garlogie Beam Engine Trust. Leofric brings extensive engineering expertise and a passion for preserving industrial heritage.

In this talk, Leofric will share the vision for restoring the 1830s beam engine to steam and reviving the 1923 hydroelectric plant. He will discuss how these efforts will transform the site into a publicly accessible heritage museum celebrating Northeast Scotland's rich industrial history.

Garlogie, a small village 11 miles west of Aberdeen, was once home to a 19th-century wool spinning mill. The site features a mid-1830s engine house containing Scotland's oldest beam engine still in its original location and a 1923 hydroelectric plant built by Lord Cowdray. Since 2019, the Garlogie Beam Engine Trust has led efforts to preserve and restore this important industrial landmark.
