Synopsis

Offshore saturation diving remains essential for the installation, maintenance and decommissioning of subsea infrastructure worldwide.

This presentation provides a high-level introduction to the world of saturation diving, before exploring how the effects of extreme pressure on human physiology make breathing air impractical. It will then examine the challenges associated with alternative breathing gas mixtures, and their implications for diving equipment, operational processes, and the wider supply chain.

Diving Technical Authority & Governance Manager, TechnipFMC

David is responsible for the global oversight of the diving discipline at Tier 1 subsea installation contractor, TechnipFMC. He brings extensive experience from a range of engineering and diving specialist roles, both onshore and offshore, across subsea construction, repair and decommissioning projects.

A graduate in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (MEng) from the Universities of Strathclyde and Glasgow, David is an active contributor to the industry. He serves on the IMCA Diving Division Management Committee and participates in the IMCA Diving Safety, Medical, Technical & Training Forum.
