Synchrostor - Loanhead
SynchroStor is an engineering R&D business (founded in 2017) which is developing a
pumped thermal energy storage (PTES) and high temperature heat pump built around a high pressure, positive displacement compressor–expander machine.
The visit will give the opportunity to learn about how this novel approach to energy storage has been engineered to enable applications such as gridscale long duration storage for wind/solar.

• Drainage of significant quantities of bulk product, process fluids and isolation of damaged
equipment from live systems
• Removal of damaged process plant and equipment
• Managing people pressures and HSE standards from removal of damaged equipment to back
to normal operation
The project was successfully completed with no incidents or interruption to live operating equipment
