    The Sundarbans of Bangladesh – A UNESCO World heritage site This presentation gives an overview of the importance and significances of this status and why the Sundarban region is of universal global importance. The IMechE motto – Improving the world through Engineering will be explored to preserve and improve important regions such as the Sundarbans and presented by Dr Khosru Rahman the Kent area chairman.

    This is an opportunity to take a guided tour of the works at Romney Station of the RH&D railway. Followed by a trip on the train to Dungeness to have a fish and chip lunch at the Britannia pub. With the chance to see the sights and sounds before taking your choice of trains back to Romney Station. The cost is £20 per person the price includes the tour, train ticket and lunch.

    This talk presents a general overview of the effects of fatigue and fracture on engineering structures. The presentation will cover some of the key historical failures that have led to a better understanding of the subject. A theoretical overview and the condition of resonance will also be discussed supported by examples. Finally, an example of the calculation methodology of how these phenomena are dealt with in today's modern aerospace avionics structures will be given.
