The challenge of reducing vehicle development costs whilst carrying out shorter product cycles and increasing levels of validation is being addressed by the introduction of virtual testing environments. These systems rely on realistic system models that can run in real-time and mimic the vehicle and powertrain responses. This presentation will discuss both real-time models and how they can be exploited to achieve reductions in engine and vehicle testing.
