Description

Biffa is one of the UK's largest waste management companies, providing comprehensive, sustainable, and regulated waste services, including recycling and, landfill, and specialized disposal.

Key Details about Brookhurst Wood:

  • Functions: Treats residual waste, produces RDF for export (to Germany), generates electricity, and processes contaminated soils and road sweepings.
  • Partnership: Operates under a long-term contract with West Sussex County Council, the waste disposal authority for the county.

  • Recent Developments: The site has been undergoing modifications for future food waste processing, despite some past planning challenges for expansion.

In essence, Brookhurst Wood is Biffa's main hub in that area for dealing with waste that can't be easily recycled, turning it into energy or fuel.
