    Brighton and Hove City Council recently declared a climate emergency and is working on the ambitious target of achieving whole city carbon neutrality by 2030. This talk includes background information on city air quality and will focus on the role of transport in meeting this challenge, through a wide range of initiatives, from electric charge points to Ultra Low Emission Zones.

    Andy Grundy, Head of Fleet Management and Stores, Direct Rail Services presents the Class 88 bi-mode locomotive. Hear about these locomotives with true dual mode, the Class 88 has ‘genuine mixed traffic haulage capabilities. All evenings start at 17:30 with tea, coffee and biscuits. Lectures commence at 18:00 for approximately one hour with questions afterwards. Refreshments are served after each lecture with an opportunity for networking and to meet the speaker

    GREat Medway - University of Greenwich Talks Through simple examples, the talk will illustrate: why social mobility can be a slippery concept; how rural, urban or other location affects mobility prospects; educational mobility in Africa; the odds for climbing the occupational ladder in Victorian Britain compared e.g. to contemporary India and China.
