Join the IMechE Devon & Cornwall Area Committee’s 2023 Annual General Meeting. The evening will begin with a presentation by David Cowan drawing on past experiences and thoughts on ‘how to manage complex Engineering projects’. We will then carry out the AGM formalities with a presentation from the committee and election of the 2023-2024 Committee.
Managing Complex Engineering Project, by David Cowan:
David is a Chartered Engineer, Member of the IMechE and a Fellow of the Energy Institute. Recently retired from a career in the waste management, environmental engineering, as well as the oil and gas sector. David has led teams that have managed complex engineering projects in the waste management industry including energy from waste facilities to recycle waste as well as treating organic food / green waste.
It is from this experience that David will present to the meeting his thoughts on how to manage complex projects so that they achieve the key golden project outcomes of within budget, on time and achievement of desired outcomes / function. The presentation will consider how these goals can be illusive in the delivery of large projects and what strategies can be put in place to improve outcomes. The presentation will end on what are the key skills of a good project manager.
Annual General Meeting:
The Annual General Meeting will consist of reviewing the past year in the IMechE committee, look ahead to the following year and Committee elections.
