By 1925, Henry Ford was exceptionally rich and planned a museum similar to London’s Science Museum, but bigger, in his home town of Dearborn, Michigan. The museum was to celebrate great American inventors. Ford also wished to tell the story of steam and the Industrial Revolution. Derived mainly from archives in Manchester and Dearborn this lecture tells the story of how Morton had $10 million (now £100 million) to spend on Ford’s dream collection that is still displayed in Dearborn.
