This workshop will explain how an engineer may use the experiential learning gained through technical work experience and articulate how they have achieved the AHEP 4 learning outcomes at Bachelors or Masters level. It will be useful to attend if you have significant technical work experience which may be used instead of a formal academic qualification or, if you had planned to do Further Leaning after graduating, but never quite managed it.

Gloucestershire’s “Energy from Waste” facility is a key element of local waste management. Operational in 2019, it takes waste that would otherwise go to landfill and produces electricity. Its design and operation is of great interest to engineers. The 2-hour visit involves a presentation and a walking-tour of some of the facility. The walking tour takes in the Waste Reception Hall, Waste Bunker, and a view of the waste burning on the grate.

EVENT POSTPONED - More information below. The topic of AI is now present almost daily in news reports and technical and business papers and is something we really must learn to understand. Many questions have been raised by engineers about the future effects, use and advantages of AI in engineering. Dr Will Sayers will look broadly at the topic and cover many of the questions raised and will include real examples of AI use in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, civil engineering.
