Description
Following the Olympics and Paralympics of last summer, this lecture examines the influence and use of engineering in sport. Particularly how leading edge technologies from industry are used to create faster, lighter and more efficient equipment, to how precision analysis tools are allowing coaches to fine-tune athletes’ performance better than ever before. Technology usually associated with Formula 1 is making cyclists go faster, composite materials help pole-vaulters leap higher.
The presentation will also explore the UK's role as a leading sports engineering research centre, world-class sports engineering research is pouring out of British universities.
