Montserrat Caso Fernández AMIMechE - Chair

Montserrat Caso Fernández is a Nuclear Engineer at AtkinsRealis, currently working as Lead Project Engineer for two major nuclear sites in the UK: Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. She studied a MSc in Mechanical Engineering Design from the University of Manchester, and has nearly six years of engineering experience across three diverse industries: manufacturing, banking, and nuclear.

A member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) for more than five years, Montserrat now chairs the Bath & Bristol Young Members Panel. She loves the challenges that engineering brings, not only the technical aspects but also the leadership and strategic dimensions.

Ishan Raj AMIMechE - Vice Chair (Events & Socials) & Treasurer

Ishan is an Associate Member (AMIMechE) of the IMechE and currently serves as both the Vice Chair (Events & Socials) and Treasurer for the Bath & Bristol Young Members Panel, having joined in 2023. He works as a Project Engineer at VEQTER Ltd in Bristol, where he has gained experience in engineering consulting for clients in the aerospace, nuclear, and energy sectors.

Ishan holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol and is actively working towards chartership with the IMechE. In his free time, he enjoys reading, exploring nature on walks, and volunteering with charities.

Nely Georgiou AMIMechE - Vice Chair (Networking & Outreach) & University Representative

Nely holds the position of Vice Chair of Networking & Outreach for the Panel and is also the University Representative for the University of Bristol. Currently, in her final year of a Mechanical Engineering MEng program at the University of Bristol, Nely has a strong background in student leadership. She previously held the role of President of the university’s Mechanical Engineering Society (MechSoc) and now contributes as the society's Careers & Outreach Officer.

Since joining the panel in 2023, Nely has played an instrumental role, particularly in her capacity as University Representative for Bristol. She has successfully organised key events, including 'Route to Chartership' sessions and CV improvement workshops.


Oliver Oldrey AIMechE - Secretary

Oliver holds the position of Secretary for the Panel, having joined at the start of 2024. He is currently a second-year Mechanical Engineering (MEng) undergraduate at the University of Bath and is an active member of the university’s Formula Student team, Team Bath Racing Electric. With a strong interest in the automotive sector and motorsport, Oliver has been a valuable asset to the panel, making significant contributions since taking on his role.

In his spare time, Oliver has undertaken impressive projects using Arduino microcontrollers to automate various functions in his home.


Alexander Sweeney AMIMechE - Publicity & Social Media Officer

Alexander holds a BSc in Mathematics from Plymouth University and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the West of England, having graduated in 2023. He currently works as a Component Design Engineer at Rolls-Royce, contributing his expertise to the aeronautical sector after five years in the engineering industry.

His professional journey began in health and safety before transitioning to aeronautical engineering, both roles leveraging his skills as a mechanical engineer. A member of the IMechE for five years, Alexander serves as the Publicity & Social Media Officer for the Bath & Bristol Young Members Panel.

Beyond engineering, Alexander’s passion lies in exploring and trekking. When not outdoors, he enjoys reading and gaming, embracing his enthusiasm for all things geeky.

Amy Scerri AIMechE - University Representative

Amy Scerri is an IMechE Affiliate Student Member who has recently completed her first year studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath. She serves as the University Representative on the panel. Additionally, she is the Chair of Bath’s Women’s Engineering Society and a registered STEM ambassador with STEM Learning.

Amy is a member of the University of Bath’s Women’s Water Polo first team and enjoys the commitment of training four times a week. In her spare time, she also enjoys photography, volleyball, and playing the drums.


Jack Mason EngTech MIMechE - Young Members Board Western Region Representative

Jack is the Young Member's Board Representative for the Western Region, and is also Devon & Cornwall's Vice Chair. He sits on the Bath & Bristol YMP in an advisory position, liaising between the Panel, the Western Region and the Young Members Board. He's been part of the Volunteer Members Network since 2018, when joining Devon & Cornwall Area Committee as the Young Members Representative. He is a Graduate Mechanical Engineering at Babcock International Group at Devonport Royal Dockyard, where he previously undertook a Industrial Placement Year and a Summer Placement. He graduated with a MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Plymouth.

Alexia Williams AIMechE - Ordinary Member

Alexia Williams is an Asset Lifecycle Engineer Project Lead at Rolls-Royce with six years of industry experience. She completed her Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce, earning a BEng in Aerospace Engineering from UWE in 2022. Currently, she is pursuing a Master's Degree Apprenticeship in Through-life Engineering Services at Cranfield University.

Alexia serves as an ordinary member of the IMechE Bath & Bristol Young Members Panel. She also holds roles as Chair of the IfATE Apprentice Panel, Apprentice Representative on the UCAS Apprenticeship Stakeholder Group, and, starting next month, she will be the Apprentice Representative on the IET Young Professional Committee.

In her spare time, Alexia enjoys coaching high diving and practicing aerial sports, including Aerial Hoop and aerial silks.


 Laxmi Subedi AMIMechE- Ordinary Member

Laxmi is a Junior Mechanical Engineer at AtkinsRéalis, where she has been working since 2022 on the Hinkley Point C project. In her role as a Post-Handover Open Point Manager, she oversees the technical issues that arise after the design has been handed over to the site.

She holds an MSc degree in Sustainable Engineering: 'Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment' from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, completed in 2022. Laxmi became an Associate Member (AMIMechE) of the IMechE in 2022 and joined the Bath & Bristol Young Members Panel in 2024, where she supports the STEM activities. She is also a registered STEM Ambassador with STEM Learning.

In her free time, Laxmi enjoys exploring new places, hiking trails, and engaging in adventurous activities.



Martina Cheadle CEng - Ordinary Member

Martina is a Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead at Rolls-Royce in Bristol. She studied Engineering at Cambridge University. She has worked in the UK and in Germany for Rolls-Royce in materials and manufacturing engineering roles over the last six years. She became a Chartered Engineer in February 2023.

Martina was part of the IMechE Young Members Panel in the UK as the Power Board rep and in Germany as the IMechE Berlin regional rep. She is currently an ordinary member of the Bath & Bristol group and is building a network of IMechE people within Rolls-Royce. She supports STEM and Educational Outreach with the IMechE and other engineering charities such as the Arkwright Scholarship.

In her spare time, Martina enjoys travelling, reading, swimming, rowing, kayaking, and hiking.
