Description

In 1912 there occurred a shipping disaster of such proportions that we are still talking and speculating about it over one hundred years later. Over 1400 people lost their lives in a ship that was at the peak of modern technology at that time. On the face of it, it was a gross failure in engineering design and nautical practice This talk covers the circumstances that led to TITANIC’s creation, her collision, and her eventual loss, with particular emphasis on engineering and the role that engineers played in her short life - dispelling many of the popular myths that surround this tragedy. The illustrated talk lasts 45 minutes plus whatever time is needed for subsequent questions.
