Following a successful involvement last year the IMechE Devon and Somerset Committee is again supporting the Sidmouth Science Festival this year. It is the fourth year for the Festival, which is aimed at all age groups although focussing on young people; this year the theme is “Science in our Lives” and it promises to be bigger than ever. It runs from the 7th to 18th October and includes various talks and events including engagement with local schools and colleges aimed at raising the profile of STEM subjects, hopefully encouraging young people into science and engineering as a profession. This year the IMechE talk will take place on Saturday 17th October and is being given by Dr. Jenifer Baxter, Energy and Environment Theme Manager and its topic is “Water”!
