Description
Dear members, this is a call for scrutineers and general volunteers to support this established schools engineering project for a day of racing electric cars at Castle Combe. This is a great way to encourage pupils to consider a career in engineering and a good day out. IMechE members have supported this event for many years.
The F24 event consists of two 90 minute races for 11-16 year olds. A single pair of car batteries power an electric motor driven car. An F24+ (more senior) race occurs between these races. The car teams have had to design, fundraise, build, program and learn to drive their car to maximise the distance within the 90 minutes from the limited battery power available
Volunteer roles include scrutineering (safety checks of cars), pit lane marshalling, prize judging and more. Early start for scrutineering if you can make it but help is required all through the day. It is a fun day and no experience is necessary. A voucher for food will be provided.
