Development of braking technology
Technical lecture
19 September 2016 17:00 - 19:00

Description
Railway braking systems have been developed progressively over almost two hundred years. By the 1960’s the failsafe pneumatic continuous brake was well established. Worldwide development has progressively improved the technology. The presentation will review how these developments have led to the sophistication of braking technology today.
From knowledge of the direction of research currently undertaken, and experience of the world market of railway brakes, the presentation will then hypothesise what the future systems might look like. What direction the railway braking of the future is likely to take.
