Description
Learn the story of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, hear about the competition to design the bridge, a project plagued with problems and how the end result differed from the original design. Find out more about Brunel and his family, learn how a suspension bridge works and how people crossed the gorge before it was built. We'll also hear some amazing stories about the people who used and maintained the bridge and the winter maintenance needed to keep it working.
We will meet at the White Lion Bar (next to the Avon Gorge Hotel) from 17:30 and leave the bar promptly at 18:00 to walk to the Clifton Suspension Bridge for the tour.
This Bridge Tour will cost £4.50 which should be paid on the day.
Following the tour we will be heading to the Brunel Raj, Clifton for our yearly networking curry. This will cost approx. £15- 30 per person. Unfortunately we are unable to subsidise the cost of the curry.
NOTE: Please remember that you will need to pay £4.50 for the bridge tour and for your food/drinks on the day.
We look forward to seeing you there!
