Modular Reactors - Nuclear Energy's Future?
A type of small nuclear fission reactor having a capacity less than 300MWe. SMR’s are designed to be manufactured at a plant and brought to a site to be fully constructed.
The lecture will provide information on reactor design and look at how the UK could benefit from SMR deployment in the mid-2020s and the way in which SMRs could contribute to the UK’s future energy mix. It will detail the advanced stage of NuScale’s work to bring SMRs to market in the U.S and outline work to develop a UK-U.S. partnership that will see SMRs manufactured in a UK factory.
