This event has finished

Bath and Bristol Young Members' Panel are proud to announce a technical visit to Wessex Water's waste processing plant. This tour is a must for engineers working in process related industries or for those who just want to see real world engineering in action!

The site in Avonmouth covers the whole waste water process - utilising hundreds of different types of mechanical, electrical and chemical technologies along the process chain.

This tour will give you the unique chance to view how these amazing feats of engineering process waste water. Included in Wessex Water's impressive array of equipment are: pumps, presses, water treatment tanks, a steam drying plan, boiler room and five combined heat and power gas engines (each producing 1.5MW of energy!). The Avonmouth site also houses a food waste plant and gas-to-grid project, which is not to be missed.

The tour is expected to take around 2 hours. Please ensure that you bring your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). You must bring safety shoes. Entry to the site will be via Gate A. Car parking details will be provided closer to the day.
