The Bristol & Bath Young Members Panel would like to invite entrants to the Bristol heat of the 'Speak Out for Engineering' (SofE) competition.

Competitors must give a 20 minute presentation on a subject relating to mechanical engineering, with 90% of the total marks being awarded for presentation skills and 10% for technical content.  Entrants shall be judged by a panel of professionals and academics chosen by the  committee. The Winner of each heat goes on to compete in the UK Final.

The Speak Out for Engineering (SofE) competition is organised annually by the IMechE's local volunteer groups. It was originally established in 1964 to challenge young engineers to prove they could "communicate effectively", which is still an important area in developing engineers today.

The competition provides young engineers with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and develop their verbal and visual presentation skills and competence in public speaking.
For further details on the competition please visit the main speak out for engineering web page.

Please contact the event contact if you wish to enter.  Entrants must provide a 200 word summary of their presentation prior to the competition.

Entrant Criteria
Competition entrants must be Affiliate or Associate members of the IMechE, or Members who have been professionally registered for less than 10 years.  Any students who wish to enter and who are not yet a member can register for free as an affiliate.

Heat Winner: £300
