A brief journey through the world of vehicle electrification. From the technologies common place in leading electric cars to emerging trends in non-road mobile machinery. Visions of upcoming technology goals and the regulatory landscape sculpting vehicle propulsion of the future.

 

A brief summary of the current state of electrification in vehicles today. An overview of the main methods of vehicle hybridisation and electrification. A walk through the most common electric motor topologies and energy storage solutions. The commercial state of play and current barriers to mass adoption / adoption across multiple sectors. The regulation landscape shaping the future of vehicular movements on road, off road and on the water.

 

Brief Biog for the presenter Ian Giillam

Currently a Project Manager at an electric motor manufacturer. Iain Gillam has a background in electric propulsion through currently developing off-highway electric motor technology and previously working on the 2014 championship winning F1 Power Unit. Iain is a long standing proponent of EVs since working on an electric Formula Student car at university.
