Talk Synopsis:

We have been looking to provide a talk on a subject unrelated to the purely engineering discipline that we normally focus on, and one that members, partners and friends would enjoy. We are delighted to say that we have secured an excellent outcome. Simon Chorley, a senior auctioneer from the prestigious Chorley’s Auctioneers, has kindly agreed to give us a talk on his experience of auctions and valuations, based on a long and full career in all aspects of the business.

Chorley’s sells to a national and international market through auctions held at its salerooms in the beautiful grounds of Prinknash Abbey and also via live broadcast to online bidders. The firm has its roots in the long established Art & Antiques division of Bruton Knowles. Since 1862 Bruton Knowles, with its headquarters in Gloucestershire, has been the Cotswolds' largest and one of the most important provincial firms in the country. Its Fine Art & Antiques division played a major role; handling the chattels of clients' estates, probates, insurance valuations and house sales. Now trading under the name Chorley’s, the company has expanded into two salerooms.

You are invited to come along, with partners and friends, to what will undoubtedly be a fascinating talk that will be of great interest to a wide audience.
