This lecture, organised by the local IMechE and RAeS, will delve into the fascinating topic of technical investigations within Safran Landing Systems.

This lecture will provide a quick overview on the various activities within the Safran Landing Systems Materials and Process Laboratory and will focus on the techniques and equipment used to support investigations on Landing Gear Structures. There will be an opportunity to review case studies and see examples of landing gear components investigated within this world-class facility.

Whether you are an engineering enthusiast, student, or a seasoned professional, this lecture promises to be a rich source of knowledge with practical insights. Mark your calendars for the 16th of January 2024, and join us for an engaging and informative session.

Details about the speakers:

Timothy Morse is an accomplished materials engineer with a wealth of experience and expertise. He studied Materials Science and Engineering (BEng) at the University of Wales Swansea, followed by an MSc in Advanced Materials from Cranfield University. His Master's thesis focused on the investigation of aluminum coatings for corrosion protection of high-strength steels. After gaining experience in the oil and gas industry, conducting metallurgical investigations, Timothy joined Safran Landing Systems in 2010. In his current role as an Assistant Principal Materials Engineer, he leads the technical investigations team. Timothy's remarkable career includes over 200 materials-related investigations, and he has played a crucial role in assisting civil investigation bodies such as the AAIB, BEA, and Canadian TSB during Annex 13 investigations.

Ben Heuzé is a dynamic leader in the field of materials science, holding a Materials Science Master’s degree from the Bordeaux Physics and Chemistry University. He completed his master's degree as an apprentice engineer while working for Safran Helicopter Engines in Bordes, France. During his tenure at Safran Helicopter Engines, he spent three years in the M&P laboratory, focusing on the investigations of single crystal nickel blades for gas turbines. In 2015, Ben transitioned to Safran Landing Systems' M&P laboratory, joining the technical investigations team. In 2022, he assumed the role of Engineering Group Leader for the M&P Laboratory, overseeing all activities within Gloucester M&P team.
