🛠️ Event Description:
Join the IMechE Devon and Cornwall Area Committee for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of BD (Becton Dickinson) in Plymouth, a global leader in medical technology. This tour offers a unique opportunity to explore BD’s advanced manufacturing facility, where they produce innovative medical devices that support healthcare professionals worldwide.

The tour will be guided by BD experts and includes a detailed overview of the Plymouth site, safety protocols, and insights into their cutting-edge production processes.

🔑 Event Schedule:

• 18:00: Arrival at BD Plymouth security, sign-in, and parking
• 18:15 - 18:45: Safety briefing and general overview of BD Plymouth
• 18:45 - 19:00: Walk to Building 2 and gown up
• 19:00 - 20:30: Factory tour
• 20:30 - 20:40: De-gown and return to Building 1
• 20:45: Departure

Important Information:

• Safety shoes: Please bring your own safety shoes. Without safety shoes, your access during the tour will be restricted. BD will provide “blue booties” for those with safety shoes.
• Dress Code:
• Full-length trousers (no shorts)
• Socks covering the ankles (no trainer socks)
• If wearing a skirt, tights must be worn
• No heavy perfumes or makeup
• Comfortable, flat, fully enclosed shoes (no heels, sandals, or open-toe shoes)
• Jeans are allowed but must not be ripped or have holes
• T-shirts must have sleeves (no sleeveless tops)
• Jewellery: Remove all jewellery before entering the factory. If you wish to keep a wedding ring on, let us know beforehand so that blue nitrile gloves can be provided.
