Description

Avon Valley Railway Flyer

Join us at Bristol and Bath’s heritage railway, to experience a ride on a steam train, and learn about the locomotives and the restored railway line.

We will meet from 10:30 at the Bitton station Bistro for tea and coffee, before boarding a steam train at 11:00.
This will first take us to the northernmost end of the restored railway, at Oldland Common, then south to the Avon Riverside station.
We will
then be given a tour of the railway yard and goods shed, including the history of the site, followed by a short talk on the workings of a steam engine with a look at one of the locomotives.

For those wishing to stay for lunch, there is a bistro onsite at Bitton, although the cost of food is not included for this event.

Donations are welcomed after the tour, for the continuing restoration of the line and trains.

Please note, although seats will be reserved on the train, it is still open to the public so will not wait for us! So please arrive promptly. (If you really have a problem with delays, the train will return through Bitton on its way to Avon Riverside at 11:25 when you can join us).
