The talk will illustrate the opportunities and risks in wind and renewable energy projects. Using experience of UK projects and advice to corporate and public sectors it will provide an overview of technical, commercial and planning issues and how to overcome them. The talk will be of interest to decision makers including engineers, planners and organisations with challenging energy and carbon targets.

Casimir Iwaszkiewicz is principal of C&I Associates, providing consultancy advice on Technologies, Strategies and Investment in carbon reduction. With 20 years’ experience in sustainable construction and renewable energy he has been at the forefront of services in this sector. His recent experience includes Associate Director at RES-Inbuilt advising: corporate clients on wind and solar strategies worldwide; government (DECC) on potential carbon savings from dealing with hard to fill cavities in housing, advising public sector including NHS Dorset on opportunities from incentive schemes for renewable energy. He has previously advised developers, pension funds and design teams on achieving sustainability and energy for town scale urban developments including Newlands, Central Milton Keynes and Harlow North. In addition he developed supply chains for sustainable building materials and renewable energy systems when senior manager at Construction Resources, the UK’s first Ecological Building Centre and commercial supplier.
