EDF Energy (Nuclear New Build) are planning to build the first nuclear power station in the UK for almost 20 years; a twin unit EPR at Hinkley Point C capable of producing over 3,000 MW of electrical power.
Paul Edwards will explain the background to the need for new low carbon generation in the UK, provide an introduction to the key technical features of the UK EPR design, outline the progress made with the Hinkley Point C project, and introduce some of the challenges associated in planning a project that has an expected operational life of at least 60 years.

Following graduation Paul started work in the Nuclear Safety Group at Bradwell Power Station. In 1997 he moved to join British Energy, working in the areas of PWR Safety Analysis, . Between 2005 and 2010 Following a number of leadership and management positions, Paul joined EDF Energy in April 2010.
