This presentation will survey the main ALM technologies, highlighting recent innovations and demonstrating how they may be made suitable for businesses to adopt into their manufacturing processes. The talk will showcase some of the work done by CALM and Calmore (Centre of Alternative Materials and Remanufacturing Technologies.

James Bradbury has worked within the Aerospace and Additive Layer Manufacturing industry for over 10 years, including 5 years at Alcoa Howmet developing and implementing continuous improvement for their investment casting process, including use of Stereolithography (SLA) and 3D printing processes. He joined Airbus in 2006 as part of their ALM research team, spending 3 years working on Laser sintering (LS) metallic Laser Melting (LM) and Electron Beam Melting (EBM) processes. From 2009 his role expanded across the EADS group, developing ALM applications in areas such as defence, Military Transportation and even space. In 2011 he joined the centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing (CALM) at the University of Exeter, researching into ALM technologies particularly on the uptake of ALM in SMEs.
