Throughout product development we have access to vast quantities of data, but often design decisions are made without using this data and derived knowledge to show that they are right. Digital twins could provide a structured model based approach to represent the product throughout its lifecycle. Fast feedback of measured data would be used to calibrate the digital twin (integrated set of design models), then ran as a simulation to predict the outcome of any decisions made.
