CLASS (Composite Lightweight Automotive Suspension System) is an Innovate UK part-funded project led by Ford Motor Company with consortium partners Gestamp, Warwick Manufacturing Group (University of Warwick) and GRM, consulting to design and develop a high volume – low cost carbon fibre suspension component.

The project aim was to produce a one piece carbon fibre rear suspension tie blade/knuckle assembly with a cycle time of under 5 minutes capable of supporting mass production of the Focus RS/ST models. This successful project won the 2018 JEC World Automotive Application Innovation award.
