Simon Thompson CEng MIMechE

I'm a time served apprentice trained engineer who started my career in local shipyards.  I then left and attended the University of Leeds where I obtained my honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.  I worked as a Project Engineer in York on a range of Design and Build contracts for a variety of industries including Food, Process and Utilities.  I now work for the Environmental Agency as a Regional Mechanical Advisor.  This work covers all aspects of the water industry and I ensure our Flood defence assets are maintained, refurbished and replaced when required.  I obtained Chartered status with the institution following my attendance at a 'Get Registered' event and this gave me the motivation to see the process through.  I have been an active member of the local committee ever since, getting involved in many rewarding events and activities.
