Business Development Manager

Denis HealyDenis Healy has been the Business Development Manager for the Yorkshire Region since 2008, acting as the IMechE’s primary link with organisations in industry and academia, to develop and support the engineering community whilst maintaining strong links with a network of key contacts. In addition, Denis also provides strategic guidance to active members via the regional committees.

The Institution awards Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status to suitably qualified experienced applicants. We also understand the importance of supporting engineers who are just starting out on their academic and career paths with Affiliate and Associate membership options

Locally run workshops, seminars and events will introduce you to the IMechE and provide you with all the information you will need to know about professional registration.

Workshops can be tailored to suit the needs of a company and their employees and can be hosted in-house.

Denis can provide free-of-charge feedback on membership applications prior to submission and help you to prepare for Professional Review Interview, ensuring you stand the best possible chance of first time success.

The IMechE has join up with each of the three Armed Forces and now provides a simplified route to registration, via a streamlined application process. The relationship with the Armed Forces is managed by Jill Dwyer, Defence Liaison Officer:

Company Based Registration (CBR)

CBR is the perfect process for supporting an engineering team, within a company, through the professional registration process. The Institution offers a supported and aided Company Based Registration (CBR) scheme.
The scheme provides a Business Development Manager to your site to present the ‘benefits of’ and ‘how to’ regarding professional registration.

Suitable applicants will then be supported through the process step by step, with 1-2-1 advice sessions and interview preparation workshops.
An application review service from a Professional Development Consultant (PDC) is also available.

Interviews for those who successfully progress through the application process can then be arranged on site, to ensure minimum disruption to business operation.

There is no cost for running the CBR scheme described above, the only cost is the applicants own application fee and annual membership subscription.

Support for Graduates and Apprentices

The Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS) is the Institution's approved and quality-controlled route for graduate engineers to complete their initial professional development and work towards successfully achieving Incorporated or Chartered status.

The IMechE offers its members access to Career Developer, our suite of online reporting tools, where you will be able to log on and keep a track of your development and competence even if you change employers.

The Institution approves advanced engineering apprentice training schemes within Companies, Colleges and Training providers. There is no fee for doing this and it will make the application process for your apprentices much more straightforward, as we’ll already know what skills and experience they have gained. The aim being, to make it as simple as possible for apprentices to benefit from the extra endorsement of their skills that professional registration EngTech provides.

For more information on EngTech status and accreditation please contact Paul Tabern, Senior Business Development Executive.
