On arguably the brightest day of the year so far, the IMechE EYYM committee hosted their now annual Summer Social event at the Welton Waters Activity Centre. A range of activities awaited attendees throughout the day from water based kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing and sailing, to more relaxed static displays, games and simulators.

The main attraction however was the raft building competition, this year including teams from outside the local area. Early in the day Titanic Take 2 set the pace with a time of 22 minutes inclusive of build, race and dismantling. This was closely followed by team Xuebin clocking in with a cumulative 30 minutes.

The Famous Four then literally took to the water to secure them the Wettest Raft Builder award while aptly named How Hard Can It Be ran them close with a number of highly conceptual designs, eventually clocking an unofficial time of 25 minutes.

The committee would like to give a big thank you to all involved in this years event including all the staff at Welton Waters, helpers, competitors, and finally the IMechE for their continued backing and support.
