Please meet at the front of Hull University (outside Middleton Hall) at 12:00pm. Anyone who wishes to meet at the site itself please meet at 12:50pm for a 1:00pm start.  Follow Gate E to the admin building on Brigg Road. Address on poster.


Conditions for visiting British Steel’s site in Scunthorpe

Permission to visit British Steel, Scunthorpe is subject to the following conditions:
1. British Steel shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage to visitors’ property, which includes private cars. In the event of a visitor being involved in any accident or sustaining injury while on British Steel property, any such incident or injury should be reported immediately to the British Steel guide. 
2. Children under 11 years of age are not permitted on site, unless they are touring the site by train or coach and will not be disembarking. Children visiting as part of a school group to view operations must be at least 14 years old and the adult pupil ratio should be at least 1:10. 
3. Visitors are responsible for providing their own transport around plant. This must be a coach/minibus where the party exceeds eight people. Visitors who arrive in private cars must park in the official car parks. 
4. All visitors must wear safety equipment provided. 
5. Substantial footwear must be worn – trainers, sandals and high-heeled shoes are not allowed on plant. 
6. Women are advised to wear trousers, rather than a skirt. 
7. Visitors must abide by the instructions from British Steel guides at all times. 
8. Photography is not allowed on site and cameras should not be brought on to the works. Mobile phones must be switched off at all times. 
9. Any report, article or statement prepared for external publication as a result of the visit must first be submitted to the Public Affairs and Media Relations Specialist for approval. 
10. From time to time, British Steel may invite the local media to photograph visitors, which could include young people under the age of 16. Please make it clear to your British Steel guide if any child in your care should not be photographed. 
11. Pregnant women are not advised to take part in the visit due to physical requirements involved.
