23rd June 2022 is International Women in Engineering Day (INWED). Join us for an exciting interactive event to:

• celebrate the achievements of women working in engineering;
• discuss career experiences and challenges;
• and most of all, a look ahead to the future.

To mark the occasion, the BioTrib EU European Training Network, the School of Mechanical Engineering (University of Leeds) and the IMechE BioMedical Engineering Division (BmED) in Yorkshire have teamed up to bring you an online event - with presentations and panel discussion from a range of leading women working across engineering within Yorkshire.

Our speakers include:

• Dr Jenny Smith - Patent Lawyer
• Dr Sarah Junaid - Senior Lecturer
• Sarah Crossland - PhD Researcher
• Dr Alex Smyth - Senior Policy Advisor
• Dr Megan Hadley - DePuy Synthes

The session will be chaired by Prof Lisa-Dionne Morris and Dr Claire Brockett, with five short presentations followed by a Q&A session.

This year INWED's theme is Inventors and Innovators, so plenty of interesting discussions to be had!

Background information:

International Women in Engineering Day, brought to you by Women's Engineering Society (WES) will celebrate its 9th year in 2022 and figures as of June 2021 show that only 16.5% of engineers are women. INWED gives women engineers around the world a profile when they are still hugely under-represented in their professions. As the only platform of its kind, it plays a vital role in encouraging more young women and girls to take up engineering careers.
