Hosted by Projex Solutions Ltd and delivered by Spirax Sarco UK Ltd, this is the third in a series of eight CPD lectures being held weekly over a period of two months, covering the applications of "steam" in current industrial uses.

This series is being run in partnership with the University of Huddersfield and synchronizes with this year's engineering undergraduate intake. 

Following on from the previous high-level overview of a typical steam system, this presentation will move forwards to cover the topic of "steam trapping" in a little more detail, specifically: 

- Why trap steam anyway?
- What is condensate?
- Why remove air (as a separate issue, yet at the same time as condensate)?
- Where and how to trap steam/remove condensate
- Different steam trap types and operating principles
- How to select steam traps for different applications
- Steam trap sizing
- Problems with/identifying failed steam traps
- Calculating the financial/carbon impact of a failed trap
