Each of the 16 UK regions has a Regional Education Officer (REO). The Regional Education Officer is a member of the regional committee who acts to achieve the Institution’s educational objectives. They will work with local bodies, local authorities and key national organisations to support ambassador schemes, outreach and other educational initiatives.
Regional Education Officers will:
- Work with/be aware of HQ-endorsed projects such as Primary Engineer, Tomorrows Engineers and Bloodhound SSC.
- Coordinate/collate results from educational projects taken on by the regional/area committee with direction from the Chair.
- Inform the Institution’s Education Advisory Group on the Region’s plan for education activities
- Keep HQ updated on activities either via the quarterly reporting structure or directly to Education Team
- Work with other Regional Education Officers to share best practice keep one another informed of their work.
- Coordinate/work with ambassadors and schools in the region
- Be a registered STEM ambassador
- Be a member of the Institution
