The Institution has a substantial membership base in Hong Kong, supported by the Institution's Hong Kong Branch which was formally launched in 1997.

The Hong Kong office of the Institution was opened in May 1999 and its aim is to promote the objectives and purposes laid down by the Royal Charter of the Institution and to develop as an efficient regional centre.
