Recruitment of Volunteers

Introduction of Community Service Group (CSG):

Members of IMechE (Hong Kong Branch) have been participating in the "Wheelchair Artist" service project of 1st Step Association for five years starting from 2014. They participated to serve the disabled people and wheelchair users in volunteer base. The services include wheelchair cleaning services, and conducting research and development of simple mechanical devices for wheelchair users for improving their daily life. The Community Service Group (CSG) of IMechE HKB was formally established in December 2017, with the mission to encourage members of the Institution to support and help the needs in the community with professional knowledge. Introduction of Service Project:
While talking about improving the world through engineering, it is no doubt that we mechanical engineers are making contribution every day in our working positions. But, have you ever thought of contributing our expertise in a non-working position? Here is an opportunity for you!

Our Community Service Group (CSG) of IMechE HKB is now launching a new service project with 1st Step Association. The Volunteer Service Team will Visit the home of Wheelchair Users, targeting to conduct survey to record the needs and problems in their daily life at home. Daily resources will also be delivered by volunteers to share the care and love to the disable people.

Data collected in the survey during home visiting will act as information record for 1st Step Association to conduct follow-up service works in future, such as installation of i-home devices, and repairing and improvement works for disable people’s home.
