Programme Highlights 
EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, also known as HT-7U), operated by the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the world's first fully superconducting tokamak nuclear fusion experimental device independently designed and built by China.

On January 20, 2025, EAST achieved a major breakthrough by maintaining a high-confinement mode plasma for 1,066 seconds, the first time it has exceeded 1,000 seconds of "high-quality plasma burning," surpassing the previous record of 403 seconds set in 2023. This has significant implications for mankind's realization of nuclear fusion energy.

The primary objective of this visit is to enhance the knowledge of the participants and further their understanding on nuclear fusion.

The number of participants will be limited to 25 and applicants will be served on a first-come-first-serve basis. Priority will be given to the members of the co-organisers, sponsor and the supporting organisations. Successful applicants will be charged a non-refundable amount - members (co-organisers, sponsor and the supporting organisations): 1,800 HKD; non-members: 3,000 HKD - to cover the expense of the visit (i.e. hotel, meals, transportation in Hefei, excluding the round-trip flights/HSR) and will be notified by confirmation email containing the payment details.
