Technical Visit to TechnipFMC factory which designs and manufactures well head and drilling equipment for the Oil and Gas Industry. TechnipFMC has been manufacturing equipment  in Singapore for 47 years for onshore, offshore and subsea applications.

The tour will be of a machine, welding and assembly shop that is used in the manufacture primarily of Oilfield Equipment including large, high pressure Wellheads, Christmas Trees and Control Systems. The TechnipFMC site although deploying traditional machining methods uses sophisticated CNC multi-axis machine centres and welding machines, along with some interesting levels of control and automation in the assembly shops. TechnipFMC has been embracing and striving to achieve a paperless workshop environment and adapting to Industry 4.0 techniques for heavy industry, this will be an opportunity to see a real workshop transitioning from the traditional to the future. 

After the tour, IMechE Committee Member and Hon Treasurer Graham Horn, SVP of TechnipFMC, will explain to us how his team have developed and modernised manufacturing methods to increase manufacturing efficiency in the factory as well as implement some of the methodology embraced under Industry 4.0. 

Free Parking is available at the site.

Transport will be provided from Jurong East MRT Station.  Details of the time and pick up point will be sent to successful registrants.

Long trousers and closed shoes are required - other PPE will be provided for the tour.

Refreshments will be provided after the factory visit allowing a time for a "Getting To Know You" session for members to network as well as meet Committee Members and provide feedback and ideas for future events.

1.  Learn about the equipment used for Oil and Gas extraction at the Wellhead.
2.  Learn about how traditional manufacturing methods are transitioning to newer and more modern production techniques and the drivers behind this change.
